how did you guys clean yours out of box??

I just wiped mine down with some paper towels and thats about it.
Came out pretty nice and clean for me.

Need to clean it again tomorrow after I go out shooting again

I find that Varsol paint thinner is just about the best thing to use to get the oil and/or cosmoline off of guns like that; either a cloth or a paper towel with some varsol and you're good to go. Won't hurt the wood finish either, and not harsh on your skin.

I totally stripped mine down. Used boiling water on all the metal parts. and when cool I used engine cleaner. Then a good coating of CLP.

Lots of paper towels and Hoppes. If I were to do it again, I'd head outside with a fresh can of brake cleaner.
