Question to the Smith's about barrel ports

Can the barrel ports on shotguns be plugged? Found a browning over under I'm pretty interested in at a decent price point but the ports are a deal breaker for me.
Can it be done?
 
I doubt it could be done economically... looks are everything... I think the best of jobs would still leave blobs and blemishes inside and out. Keep looking...
 
Definitely not cost effective. You would have to find a good tig welder that can do a decent job at plugging the holes. Then you’d have to sand/buff the welds, inside and out then refinish. By the time that is all done you just double if not tripled the barrel price.
