At time index 9:53 of YouTuber Brandon Herrera's video on the SIG 556, he notes the gun has a split rubber dust cover (which he refers to as "weather stripping). The charging handle slides through the split between the two halves of the cover (I've seen to them referred to as "dust lips") , and then the two halves close up again once the charging is back forward.
Would this system work if a WK and/or MCR were retrofitted, or possibly a high end (Brandon refers to the dust seal as boujee) version was created (something like the TNA upper comes to mind)? Or would some kind of actuated door, like the one on the ejection port of the TNA upper, be a better option?
