Greeting to everyone:
Buddy of mine is looking for a .308 black and green rifle.
Would love to have an SLR/FN-FAL type but that is not possible.
Likes the the AR-10, but has reservations about issues pertaining to the upper & Lower receiver hinge pin wear due to recoil.
He does not like non-pistol grip rifles like the M-14/SAFN.
So what do you sugest he get that would suit his needs and is legal to own here in Canada.
Many thanks.

An m14 could be placed in a nice looking troy or sage stock and then it will have a pistol grip. Otherwise the AR-10 is your best bet for .308 i think.

Right now you're limited to the AR-10. There are rumours of a 7.62 x 51 mm Swiss Arms going around. Most of the fun .308's are prohib (HK G3 and semi variants/FAL/Galil/AMT etc.).

This is the first time ever I heard of this issue. Upper and lower fit doesn't affect accuracy - even the swiss arms has the upper wobbling a bit over the lower. I fail to understand how recoil will wear the receiver pins - you want to wear them out, open and close the upper and lower for a few thousand times.

If you want it now, the only choices are Armalite AR10 or DPMS 308 Panther. Personally I like Armalite better.

If you want to wait for the unicons there are vapour-wares like Swiss Arms SAPR.....or 2008 for the Keltech bullpup.

I think you friend is going to have to get a Norc 305 and then a SAGE EBR M14/M1A rifle chassis if he wants a pistol grip. From what I have heard form friends in the states all 308 Ar's are pretty hard to come by.
