Good evening,

does anyone no what the Canadian military prefix was on experimental firearms?

For example the U.S. would use something like this …

XM177E1

XM - experimental model
177 - the model number
E1 - experiment one (?)

I am about 75% sure the Canadian method was something like this …

X 177 A1

X - experimental
177 - model number
A1 - alterations one (?)

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thank you

We have "trial this" and "trial that" :p

I'm sure we have actual designation and I'd be interested to learn about it as well. But all I heard during my career was "trial tacvest" "trial boots" and "trial rucksack". I heard the guys in Pet are wearing the "trial new combat uniform"

Same as when I served. Did trials on a replacement flack jacket mid 80's. But I am wondering before it gets tested by the troops. When it is still in the development phase.
I believe the arctic kit associated with the old og combats (64 Pttn?) was designated X-51 for instance.
