I was wondering why they don't make lever action shotguns .
I know the 10 gauge was made long ago , but I've always wondered why modern makers aren't making them now .
Is there something in the lever action that would make it weak for cycling shotgun shells or what ?

Thanks for any insight you might have !

Dominion from CanadaAmmo sells them.
Winchester made the 9410. Used ones sell at a premium. Should come out with them again, they'd sell well, I suspect.
Marlin may still make their lever in .410. I would have bought one but their QC has been so iffy.

I think a lot of it is a question of complexity and cost. A lever action is 'fiddlier' than a pump or bolt: more internal bits and pieces to get working together right, so lever actions are generally more expensive than equivalent pumps or bolts. Add in the current popularity for shotguns with multiple barrel options for different situations - which is very easy to build into a pump gun but not so easy with a lever (just look at the average takedown lever rifle) - and any manufacturer considering a lever shotgun is more likely to turn out another pump, semi-auto or even bolt-action instead.
