Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum and have a few questions about buying a non-restricted rifle from EE:

  1. When can I send a message to a seller? My understanding is that new members must meet certain requirements (membership age, minimum time logged in, number of posts/messages). Can someone confirm what those requirements are for EE at CGN?
  2. For a face to face trade, where do people usually meet sellers? For example: a public parking lot, a gun shop, or a range? What’s the safest / best practice location for these trades?
  3. I was advised to check the firearm serial number to make sure it isn’t reported stolen and to confirm its legitimacy. Where can I check the serial number (which website or service) and what should I be looking for?
  4. After the seller transfers ownership, will the transfer show up on online right away? How long does it typically take to see the change?

Thanks in advance for any help! I appreciate any tips or resources.Cheers!!

2) I have met people to purchase firearms in all of the places you have mentioned. You are dealing with people who literally have a criminal record check on a daily basis. I feel safer buying a firearm than buying something on craigslist or whatever other buy and sell website you use.

3) I have never felt the need to check a serial number but if you feel you need to go to

4) Unless you are in Quebec there is no record of the firearm transfer for non-restricted. I don't know how things work there.

A reference number is obtained but that does not necessarily mean a firearm was transferred.
