I dont own a ruger 10/22 yet, but I am looking to get one. Now my question is, does it matter which type i buy or do the aftermarket stocks fit all types of 10/22's? or should i be looking for tactical or sporter...etc? I see on the EE it doesnt really say what they are but rather just 10/22.
Thanks for any help.

The only real important thing to watch for is if it has a .920 barrel channel for the heavy barrels or the sporter stock will have a tapered barrel channel for the tapered barrels. If you are using a tapered barrel in a stock with a .920 barrel channel, it will look a bit goofy with the massive gap between the barrel and the stock, but should still work fine. If you end up with a sporter stock with the tapered barrel channel, it is pretty easy to open up the barrel channel to fit the bigger barrel using some wood dowel and coarse sandpaper if it's a wooden stock. Hope this helps.

It does. So when I buy a new stock I just make sure it's for the correct barrel. Is there aftermarket stocks for both types of barrels? Or will a mod be necessary?

Basically you have 2 contours, sporter and heavy. Sporter tapers, heavy is .920" or so from reciever to muzzle or thread shoulder if its threaded. A sporter contour will fit in a heavy bbl stock but not vice versa. Most stocks have plenty of room to open up a sporter barrel channel to fit a heavy barrel. Just wrap a socket, or dowel in sandpaper to open it up.

the same archangel kit (nomad/marauder) will work with both types of barrels. If you want the look of the HB but you have a stock barrel, the kit has a fake suppressor that slides over almost all the way to the front of the fore grip, but the fake one will not fit over the HB.

If you search "G36" in the rimfire forum you will see lots of pics.
