Questions for guys who compete south of the border

Excellent thread! I remember shooting USPSA matches 20 years ago in NY and it was a breeze crossing the border. We had a CDN border permit allowing us to take our firearms to the US. We were club members in the US, as well as USPSA members, and the US border has always just waved us through, although sometimes they asked us for our CDN paperwork. I miss those days, great times! It seems that things have now changed.

Re the whole invite, hunting licence, I'm Canadian don't need anything, etc.. Take a copy of your invite, registration, "something", etc.. Bottom line is very simple.. you'll be talking to a person whose job is to keep undesirables out of the US. Don't be quoting the ATF rules, etc.. you are at a local border crossing, "they" have to feel comfortable letting "you" and your firearms in.. don't be wearing your sunglasses either.. and keep the Canadian politeness record intact.. it's just that simple.

Good advice, and not just for crossing the border for a match :)

Darn it, now I regret selling that Ken Soucie 625 even more lol.

My 6NIA is good for another couple of months. I should get my butt in gear and head down to a USPSA shoot in Washington as we won't be running any IPSC matches around here until April. Sure would be nice if I could use my Nexus pass at the border, but I've heard that going through the Sumas or Matsqui border crossings is not too time consuming.

If you do come to custer, look me up. I;ll be the brown guy with a CZ shadow and ghost 360 bullets out pouches. Next match is jan 1st, 1st sunday of every month at custer.

Sure will bsand. I'll be the guy running a Grand Power X-Calibur and going slow .... lol

I've emailed Chris Nevins to get an updated invitation letter and was asking him about registration. Do you guys do online registration (eg through Practiscore)? I wanted to have a copy of the match registration with me at the border. Yep, I'm one of those bring stuff just in case guys :)

They do score via practiscore but not registration. At least not for the club matches. Section and lvl 2 probably would have online registration.

Chris is a good guy, he's also the club president I think. Has a FFL too.
