I have a nice remington 700 wood stock that came of my old 30'06 when I changed it over to synthetic. I want to buy the parts and build a new back-up gun, can anyone list the parts that I will need? I want to make it either 7mm or another 30'06, probably another 30'06. Thanx.

So you need a complete action and a barrel.

Rem 700 BDL blue actions have been sold here for about $400-$450...stainless actions will run you about $500...then a barrel....factory takeoffs run from $40 or so to $100+ for stainless.....than you need it installed into the action..........another $150 or so....minimum

my suggestion.....go buy a new 700 SPS and put your stock on it...cheaper in the long run....as well as a lot quicker....and you get to sell the SPS factory stock for a few bucks :D

You could not get better advice than what Rembo has just given you!
I agree, to start making up a factory rifle from parts is cost prohibitive, you should be able to find a good 700 in the caliber you want with a tupperware stock fairly cheap, especially if you can wait till after Xmas when the real gun deals are out there.
