My understanding was AR's being exported from the US must have a fixed stock and flash hider. I saw the thread on CRAFM having new Colts in stock, has me wondering if it is still possible to import rifles with these features?

The restrictions on what can be exported and what features it can or can't have are totally at the discretion of US State Department. If the DSP-5 Export License that State Department approved says that a certain feature or item cannot be exported under that license then it can't be shipped with that item/feature/accessory... but if the license does not put said restriction on the items being exported under that license then it's not an issue.

State Department constantly changes what they will and wont' approve... they constantly add and remove restrictions... this stuff is in constant flux.

Here today... gone tomorrow... back again (maybe)... every day is a different story.

Don't try to make sense of it... you'll just get a headache :(

DDTC seems to roll the chicken bones when it comes to approving exports, some folks feel that 5.56mm barrels, 22mm flash hiders (for those frequently found rifle grenades) and collapsible stocks make the weapon non sporting. Other seem to think if you say that DCRA Service Rifle competition has those, then its GTG.

Don't forget the dealer could always add those items -Collapsable Stock, Flash Hider, Etc.- themselves to make the Rifle more attractive to the prospective buyer.

Noveske was offering free stripped cosmetic second lowers to anyone who ordered any in-stock rifle OR complete upper in the month of October. It so happened that I was already planning on trying to get a Noveske N4 Light Recce Basic 16".

My export permit was approved close to 24hrs after being submitted.

(Results not typical. Your mileage may vary. Consult your doctor if the condition persists for more than 4 hours.)

This is it right here.

I think I would be safe in saying not for dealers. I don't know about personal use... I'm told someone's got a personal app in for a 12.5"/10.5" noveske right now.

There's no problem on the canadian side.

Noveske does not do international sales. He would have got it from one of the dealers who stocks them and did the exportation. I am also wondering about the costs because I would like one also.

We have had quite a bit of success getting export permits for Noveske rifles and uppers... done a number of 3rd Party Purchase imports for customers.

Details of the 3rd Party Purchase process and our fees are listed on our website. Essentially you buy the gun from Noveske directly and have them ship it to our US FFL (so for them it's a domestic sale)... Questar then handles the export and import on your behalf... step by step details are on our website.

It's not cheap but we do everything start to finish relating to the export and import process.

For those that don't want to go through the 3rd Party Purchase process, we do offer some Noveske Rifle models and some uppers on a custom order basis. If you have a specific model you are looking for email me and we'll get you a price quote (please do NOT send PM's). Allow several days for reply... we've been swamped the past while and just can't answer all the emails as quickly as we used to :)

I wonder if short barrelled uppers are getting through lately?

Can't comment on complete uppers being imported but we seem to have no problem importing all the parts to make a short barreled upper.

We have Colt flat-top uppers and DPMS 11.5" chrome lined barrels in stock. Along with all the misc parts needed to complete the upper. Currently we have several assembled uppers for sale. Details on the Alberta Tactical Rifle webpage.
