I apologize if someone has already asked this, but I was wondering what your guys opinions are of the winchester 1300 (defender)?
Im interested in picking one up, what kind of price range is this gun in? A friend told me they sell for about $300. but that seems kinda low to me.
Also, since this firearm is unrestricted, would I be able to pay for the gun and leave with it the same day? (I have my RPAL and have only bought handguns before)

Thanks alot for your answers, you guys have really helped me out!

For the price it is as good a gun as any other. It will probably serve you better than a new Remington Express. I paid 325 for a new in the box field model with a synthetic stock 6 years ago, you should be able to pcik one up for less than that so long as it is used.

You will be able to walk out of the store with your gun as soon as you have paid for it.

I bought mine 25+ years ago. Never had a problem. For sure one of my "never sell" firearms.

Try Ellwood Epps.

They have used Defenders listed from time to time. Usually $325 to $375 depending on condition.

The 1300 was the first gun I bought after I got my licence.

EDIT - oops. Just noticed your in BC, so Epps won't work if you want to have it on the same day you buy it

You won't have any issues what so ever with any model 1300. The defenders came with a choice of OEM 8 or 5 shot magazine capacity and various finish (blued, black or nickel) and various combinations of furniture over the years but are still as reliable as ever and, as mentioned, a much better bang for the buck compard to the "new" generation of 870's.
