I have an Ithaca xl 900 deluxe. It has a fixed mod choke. Does anyone have a rough idea what it would cost to open it up to IC? Barrel is removable.

One more question. Does anyone know if the barrel on this model would be thick enough to install rem chokes?

Epps charges $65 for choke reaming if not chrome. Barrel needs to be measured to say for sure choke tubes can be installed, $100 w/o tubes, again i use Epps cause they list prices on there web site. Other gunsmiths charges for this type of work will vary.

Please check the receiver for any hair line cracks , before spending any money on chokes .

Can be opened up to ic. But the gunsmith would need to measure OD of barrel and cylender diameter of bbl to say if it can be tapped for chokes.

There's the truchoke thinwall style choke as well. It's supposed to work on guns that the barrel is too thin for other styles of replaceable chokes.

That only works if the bore is the right size. There are some barrels that the sizing of the barrel just wont work with any standard choke. Hence saying to take the barrel in so the smith can measure it.

Well - The SKB made Ithica O/U's have chrome plated bores.... Best to check the bore on yours before sending it out.

I have several Ithaca 37 that have been reemed out and true chokes installed this is because of the thickness of the barrel

XL 900 is such a sweet shooting gun, I'd love to have choke tubes installed in mine. Keep us posted.
