quick answer appreciated! Slug through a modified?

I'm up north with my cousin who is a new hunter and the only firearm he owns is a 12g remington model 58 semi. Its a fixed modified choke. My question is "can he shoot a slug through a modified choke?"

Yes, you can shoot them through a full choke too.

Most new guns YES. Some old guns NO. Get some calipers and measure the actual choke constriction. I've seen photos of full choked, older guns with ruined barrels, due to a slug. Call the manufacturer.

Yes, he can. No worries....in fact, you'll likely find it throws slugs more accurately than a cyl (open) bore.

Also, it may depend on what type slug you are shooting. My buddy has been shooting certain slugs out of a FULL for years.

OMG guys. There's no need to"check" anything! It's a Model 58, it has a Mod choke, it's *fine*

Its fine. Rifled slugs that is, not sabots.

In my invector plus bore the modified seems to be the best choke.

Please specify those "older" guns ....
