finally have it looking the way i want. its a russian sks, the bipod has adjustable length legs on it, bought it from a gun show in dec, used it twice, the rifle seems fairly rigid on it. although i cant hit s**t so it doesnt say alot about it, lol. chaote brand dragunov stock, i prefer the way this feels compared to the wood stock, i find its nicer to hold while shooting aswell. and a leapers scope, pretty sure its leapers, havent played with it yet as it arrived not too long ago, scope came with the rings and the bolt cover, which is a tight fit and requires filing. thats good i suppose, better if its too tight than loose and floppy. anyways, just one pic for now. nothing special but i like the way it looks. also ive got a tapco 20 rd mag that i found just doesnt look right with this setup, so i left the stock 5 rd mag in there. oh and the new bolt cover has an opening under the rail that allows you to still use the fixed sights if you choose to do so and the scope is just a 4x.

How do you like the stock? I have only seen the ATI version of this stock and it is a POS like all ati products. Did the choate fit well?. of the dragunov stocks the choate is where i am leaning. Would you buy the Choate again? And where did you buy the stock?. thanks in advance for your help.
 
It looks awesome. I used to have a Choate Dragunov stock on my old SKS, then sold it. Regretted it later too. Although I have an original wood stock, and prefer it, if I went back to synthetic, I would always choose the Choate over other stocks.

If you buy a Choate mount for your SKS, the one that is bolted onto the side of the receiver, you will get a lot more accuracy out of your rifle. The cover plate mounts are known for wandering shots because of the movement everytime the bolt cycles itself. With the side mount, you have something solid, although it requires drilling, tapping, and fasteners.

im not sure if he lists it but i sent him a message about it and he had one, i think it was around 80 bucks. fitment is great. you actually have to apply a little persuasion to get it to fit the gun which i personally like, means it wont move around as much while in there. everything fit perfectly. nice thing also with chaote is that they send you a shim. form the paper work that comes with it there are something like 16 different manufacturers of the sks and not all of them were the exact same length. i had to take a knife and take a thin layer off my shim otherwise it wouldnt fit correctly. other than that it feels great, i prefer it to the wood, quality is nice too.

im hoping because i had to file fit the cover onto the gun that it wont move too much but if i find it loosing its zero ill buy the specific mount and see how that works for me. it took a good bit of filing to get it to fit and now its tight in there, so ill see how much movement i get once i hit the range to dial it in. thanks for the tip, nothing more frustrating that having each shot wander a little.

ive got a chinese sks that im gonna tac out i think, use the tapco mag in it and i might get the tapco tactical stock or see if i can find another one that i like better from chaote
