Im sure this is posted someplace but.....

Where are you ordering yours from?

Im looking for a black that covers well. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Thanks very much for the Info there Is so much now online that its hard to nail down a direct answer.

I want to coat the Lee .430 310gr bullet for my 444. I have a .433 sizing die and the bullets currently throw just under at about .431-.432 also want to get a Lee 200gr mold for a plinking round in the same gun. Might possibly order a NOE mold as well or get some throat work done as my gun cycles the 310 well but jams into the rifling a little sooner then Id like. My old 444p had a better throat then my current 444xlr.

Thanks again

Np, the powder coating should bring it to 0.434 so that sizing die will actually size Haha.

If you haven't had an noe mold before they are awesome, I have several of them top notch quality!

Ok good. Didn't see anywhere on the site a volume or weight but sipping was the same for 1 or 2 so I did the logical thing :)

Iv got about 600lb of WW in various stages so Im good for a bit. Now to track down a cool-whip container and a toaster oven.

i use dollar store ziploc rip off containers (#5) with good success, accept when the containers break randomly. i take a scrap piece of carpet and shake/rub the container on to help build static. seems to work better vs just shaking it in the air.

Good idea with the carpet! I'm going to try that.

I'm just getting started, and have two lb of Harbour Freight red to play with.

The PC thing is wearing off on me. They shoot well, keep the gun clean and seem accurate, not one complaint from me about how they work. My complaint is actually coating them. Messy business and I will not do two coats, way too time consuming. I also have a Star sizer which is way faster than doing the PC stuff. To top it off I came up from the dungeon and was accused of fooling around with a Smurf (I was using blue). I will keep it for odd calibres I don't have dies for but that's about it. If interested, you can get an oven from Walmart for about $30 delivered plus tax.

Ian

How are you coating your bullets, It takes me 30 seconds to do 50 bullets, i do batches of 100 and in the oven for 10 min.

I found it was way easier than alox and faster over all as you can reload them within 30 min.

Also i dont do second coat, 1 is all you ever need. I find 1 tea spoon of powder per 50 bullets gives perfect coat.

Yea I find it more time consuming then Alox(Well If you factor in drying tie then PC probably quicker) But so far im loving PC as its less messy. Im also not shooting the volume I used to so its a non issue.

I don’t find it messy at all but that’s just me

Whatever works for you is good as long as you can reload and shoot more :)

I gave away 8 bottles of alox and dont miss the stuff.

I tried alox years ago and that was not my favourite either. How do you get them standing up and not touching for cooking? Can you do it in one coat? Maybe I am doing it the hard way?

It depends on the bullet, if its pistol you can just thrown them in after coating and leave them. If you need to stand them up its not so bad, i use disposable gloves and pick up from the tip and place on non stick pan. You don't need to be to fussy about the end of the bullet being coated as its the bands that matter. A little powder on the ends of the fingers will work just fine if you want the coat to look uniform.

If you look at the sticky for pc you will see my process. As stated before, 50 bullets in a number 5 container and swirl for 30 seconds, it then takes 30 seconds to put in the pan (if standing)

Don't over do it with the powder, when i finish 50 bullets there is little powder left in the container. In the oven for 10 min, and 20 min later i size and load.

The only mess is the bit of powder on the end of the disposable gloves. Simple, easy and not messy :)

One more thing, if humidity is high you pc will be rubbish, humidity not good for pc.

I stand mine up with pliers or gloves as stated. Also different powders coat better then others. Thats why I asked before I bought and the black I got coats well and only takes one coat.
