Quick question about Norinco CQ-A ambidextrous safety

This is my first AR, so I'm unfamiliar with how the safety its held on. If I remove the safety lever on the right side, will the other side walk out when I'm shooting? Should I replace the lever with a washer, or am I fine to leave it as is once The screw and lever are removed?

You can take the screw and right side lever off without the safety falling out. You need to take out other components before the safety would fall out. I did this as I hate the ambi safety.

Perfect, thanks. I can't stand the lever, it hits my hand when I'm disengaging the safety. I feel like its easier to use now that the right side is off too.
