Quick question about small game license

Hello all

I've been invited up north this weekend for some ice fishing. I was thinking about bringing my .22lr up to shoot around at some cans. A buddy asked me if i had my small game license as he mentioned he thinks rabbits open. I dont have my hunting license yet but I am really interested in this so what im asking is must i have my hunting course done to be eligible for a small game license? I am pretty sure i probably do but I figured I would ask here just to clarify and see if I might get to bag a rabbit

Yes, you have to have hunting course before you can get a small game license.

I got my hunting license the day after I did the course. If you can find someone doing the course evenings this week (long shot I know) you might still be bagging rabbits this weekend.

Depends where you live, in Manitoba you don't need a licence to shoot rabbits.(Paige 8 hunting guide).

That depends on what your provincial laws are.

For example, rabbit can be hunted but not trapped at any time of year without any hunting license or tags in Alberta.

Please make sure to mention your location, what is perfectly legal in one place can get you hefty fines or even criminal charges in another area.

Rabbits do indeed fall under the authority of a small game license in Ontario. The fishing should be good fun anyways!
