I applied for my non restricted PAL Approximately one week ago

Then a spot for the restricted firearms course opened up and I did that on saturday

I read online that there is a fee waiver up to may 15 2011 for those who wish to upgrade there pal does this mean non restricted to restricted?

also, Im kinda worried to send in my rpal application right now as I still have to wait for my course report to come back from the cfo, which would put a delay on my normal PAL, which I need to get in for the spring turkey hunt.

I ended up phoning the firearms hotline and basically what the girl said was to wait for my pal to come in...hopefully before may 15th and then send in my rpal application so that it's "in the system" before the fee waiver cut off date and then just mail the course stuff at a later date.

Does this make sense at all....will I still get the waiver?

also do I need to get anotehr pic taken for my rpal?

is me having 2 application done up gonna mess things up?

sorry for the noobie questions :p

I wasn't aware of a waiver, is this something that started recently? I got mine two years ago and had to pay the RPAL fee to upgrade. The only time you payed one fee was if you applied for both at the same time.

Applying for the RPAL may not hurt, but it certainly doesn't help, as far as timeliness is concerned. For the RPAL they will certainly contact your references, which will add time. You can ask your references to call instead of waiting to be called, but still...

If I had to absolutely get my PAL by May 15, I would wait on the RPAL application, and read this thread.

And... did you know you can hunt with a borrowed gun and other people who have PALs without having one yourself, same as you can plink without a PAL?

At least you can in Quebec.

In Nova Scotia, a hunter is specifically restricted to one unencased weapon at a time.

Meaning...that the (licensed) hunter who would supervise the (unlicensed) hunter would only be permitted one unencased firearm, or bow, between them, while hunting in Nova Scotia.

Quantities of firearms/bows

10 No person while hunting wildlife shall possess more than one weapon unless the additional weapon is either unloaded and disassembled so that it is not readily operable, or is unloaded and encased.
