im changing the cocking handle over from the left side to right side tomorrow. my question is does the barrel need to be removed for this to happen? i read the armourers manual from IWI. The manual makes no mention of barrel removal that i saw. However the sticky at the top of this forum indicates one is needed. Clarification on this would be apreciated. Also if the barrel does come off during the change over process do i need to get the head space checked at the local smithy before i use it?

Yes, the barrel needs to be removed. There is a shield at the front of the gas cylinder that needs to be flipped so the hole is on the same side as the cocking bar/charging handle.

The Tavor has a quick change barrel that is meant to be removed and replaced easily. You can pop it on and off to your heart's content and never have to worry about head space.
