quick twist .223

I admittedly have not read all of th posts here, but you do realize you can simply acquire a pre-fit replacement barrel for your rifle in Super match grade. It will require a gunsmith to take off the old one but all he has to do is headspace the new one, but it will not be an arm and a leg. We're not talking a full install at all. You will end up with a superb accurate rifle when yo are done. $800 will put you into a rifle with a faster twist, but not neccessarily a more accure rifle. I would MUCH rather have an accurate rifle that shot light bullets than an inaccurate one that shoots heavies. You can always learn to steer an accurate gun. You can never learn to steer an inaccurate gun.

Thanks obtunded, this was mentioned and considered but with tryin to. Build a .338LM It was more financially feasible for me to sell my weatherby and toss in a few Hundy and get the savage then it was to spend at least 2x the money for a match barrel and in install then find a stock that would fit the heavy barrel and do something about the heavy sticky feeling trigger. So you can understand how I'd quickly be out of pocket over 1000 if not more! I do accept that I will still have a factory accurate gun but at this point thats all I was looking for and it will atleast have a decent trigger and stock to start off with

How ever down the road the savage will be re barreled with a higher end barrel so I can really reach out with accuracy
