I am considering buying one but not the decided. If one were to buy one what would they look for to tell the new models from the old "teething issues" models?

Ex: What serial numbers would the new production ones start at?
Any specific features that set them apart?

What you want to look for is the "Rev. G" or later. If you are buying new it will say on the front of the manual. Other signs that I have noticed are getting with ones that actually have XCR-L engraved on the mag well in stylized letters rather than just XCR. Also the presence of a FAST stock is good indicator. I know mine also has the newer style tooless gas block adjustment.

If it has any or all of those things it is probably going to be great!

Have fun with your XCR, I know I do.

if think if you are buying new you should be ok. its been rolling updates as they have been selling so there isnt an exact break in the serial numbers. I had one from 2010 and it was good. still breaking in my new one but it seams to be working well so far

I have #7006, and it has all of the updated features described. It has run flawlessly; no FTE, no FTFeed and no FTFire, with zero bolts coming loose as the haters would have you think.
