How many folks use the QuickLoad software? I'm interested in it and do have version 3.2 but it won't install on my Vista 64 bit machine (subscript out of range error). I would be interested in getting another copy but if it won't work on a 64 bit machine or run under Windows Vista, what's the point?

Can anyone confirm that it will run on a 64 bit, Vista operated machine? Any recommendations for this software or others?

Cheers!

Your 64bit computer is not the problem, it's vista.

The quickload website shows that if your running vista and want to use your version you have to send your cd to them, and they will send you a new one that will work on vista for $15.00 USD.

Hope this helps.

I have XP installed on a second OS just for cases like this. Kinda sucks rebooting to access XP, but for some software, its worth it

Bummer...But on the bright side, if they'll send out a new CD that will run on Vista, then there is obviously a Vista compatable QuickLoad. That's good news!

do you find quickload is good enough to load with, or do you need a book aswell.

also do you find it conservitive?

You definitely need the books as well. I have found QuickLoad to be WAY off with a couple pistol loads.

Quickload is not necessarily conservative. It tries to be exact, and they tend to use base data that will generate lower pressure. But you might happen to use components that will generate more pressure (Say use low internal volume military brass without changing the cartridge volume number in the program) then it will no longer be conservative.

You can change ALL the variables to dial it in exactly, say if you have pressure transducer plus chronograph.

Quickload is not a "loadbook" although I am sure most people will use it as such, especially starting out. It is a computer model that generates estimates based on theoretical calculations. And like any computer model, garbage in = garbage out.

Always verify data from multiple sources.
