Hi guys:

I've read some methods here about how to sight in a new rifle and quite frankly, found them complicated.

All I did was clamp the rifle firmly to a WorkMate and shoot a hole in a piece of plywood 40 yards away.
Then I adjusted the scope to where the bullet went.

That was easy.

Am I missing something?

its that simple, same principle as how laser bore sighters work

mind you a 5 shot group might not end up in the exact same spot, even when clamped in

I'd fine tune it at 100M out of the rest/clamp. Depending on the round, a zero at 40 will shoot high at 100-ish. Rimfire, you should be GTG, but always zero on the bench.
