I did thousands of primers that way in .38 sp ammo. I used a door hinge pin that slid inside the case to hit on and just place the case over a primer on a flat steel plate. I could do a couple thousand an evening while watching TV....and I never had a primer detonate doing it this way, something I sure cant say since i started using progressive press's

I have several and still use them at times, or at least parts of them.

And of course some cartridges get loaaded without any press at all.

I'm with Iron Cat.
Pretty sure I've done a few thousand over the years. And still do some all brass 12ga cases that take large pistol primers that way.
Never been an issue.
