Hello guys,

I know that there was 10,000 questions asked and answered about this gun, but I have two that was probably never asked. If i lay my hands on one of these without any malfunctions, I was wondering how accurate the factory heavy barrel is, and if its not very good, will it accept any custom made barrels and who would supply the best one? Also, is it possible to convert this gun to .17 without any major changes except the barrel.

The factory barrel is better than my abilities.

As for a change out, it should be simple for any gunsmith who knows how to turn a blank. The thread pattern is the standard 1"x16tpi used on the FN/FAL and since it uses a lock nut like the Savage, headspacing isn't an issue.

To convert to .17 MachII, you need to at least use the standard M-16 hammer spring, instead of the cut version shipped with the gun.
