Rabbit hunting without Wildlife Habitat card (orange card)?

If you look on the DNR web page it will explain the new card. I think it is just another way to get money from us. You do need your wildlife stamp to hunt rabbits.

The wildlife Habitat stamp issued from the post office is for migratory birds only. You must have one in addition to your provincial small game lisence. If you want to hunt ducks, geese, woodcock. I don't believe rabbits are classified as migratory game.

Big Guy is right! :)

I think some people in the thread are getting N.S. and ON hunting regs mixed up. AFAIK once the new NS Wildlife card comes (came?)into effect, you must have it in your possession while in the woods with a firearm. You have to show it even to buy a new hunting licence in N.S.

Thanks Coyote tech, the Habitat Wildlife Card came into effect about 6 months ago.I guess when I am in the mood I might take the course and fill out all of the paperwork for the application and mail it in.Times changed I am sick of paperwork and fees,I wonder if criminals go through all of this?.:D

Yo Sidney...all you need is your orange card to get the new Wildlife card...if you dont have the orange card anymore dont sweat it...the number is the same as your driver's licence, you should not have to redo the course. And yes you do need the new card to carry a firearm in the woods. and yes you do need a "Habitat Stamp" to hunt rabbits. Its the booklet and jacket cover where the vendors affix the stamps for small game and big game etc. It costs 2 or 3 bucks.

"...just another way to get money from us..." Yep and I'll bet no other users of the outdoors, like skiers, hikers and picnickers, are required to pay this tax either.

I found it quite dumb that I could not find any retailers with any stamps when I was wanting to go out hunting with my Dad when I was down there for X-mas. Seemed all the stamps were collected at the first of Dec by the Ministry.
