Raccoon

Coons in a stew are excellent. I used to harvest them out of the chicken run :>) I think their flavour will vary according to their diet; if they are feeding out of garbage cans they will taste like garbage. In the wild, local ones seem to be primarily vegetarian.

My butcher swears they are the best and first thing eaten at their wild game dinners! I'm sure, like everything else, it's all in the way you prepare it!

I've eaten young roasted raccoon and and it tasted exactly like the dark meat on a turkey. The older ones are a little stronger and are best served in stews etc.. Make sure you remove the glands under the armpits.
