Hi,

I just picked up this Radom Vis 35 in a local deal. I'm not an expert on these guns but it was in nice condition. All numbers appear matching, bore is decent. Came with two mags, they appear to be decent originals but dirty.

How do I tell if the the grips are original, or, one of the high quality reproductions? I've heard these pistols are notorious for having broken grips that have been replaced long ago.

Steve,

Nice find!

I am not an expert on these guns, but here is one with the same markings.
The grips look the same.

I think the most common magazines are marked E/189, which is the code for the Warsaw Bicycle Factory?????

Thanks guys!

David, I assume that one is yours? It does look a lot like mine, even condition is about the same. I need a holster though!

Cheers,
-Steve

Guys, as stated in the first post, it's a Vis made at Radom.
If only it had an eagle on the slide instead of that damm german vulture!
I have only seen one with the eagle on the slide in the last 50 years and I didn't have enough money to buy it

Nice Radom, the prewar Radoms are for sure harder to find than the occupation WaaA77 marked radoms but the hard one to find is the German Kriegsmarine procured radom.

Many early Polish Radoms were either destroyed or deep in Russian vaults to hide the fact that under Joseph Stalins edict many Polish officers were rounded up and summarily executed at the beginning of WW#2, the Russians and Poles still view this period as contentious with Russia's failure to acknowledge the executions.

Steve--If you take your grips off and photo the insides should be able to tell if the grips are original.

Good leather Radom holsters manufactured by the germans is getting tougher to find with an pre-war radom holster the cream of the crop.

A guy at our range has his father's war bring back, had it re-finished, got to shoot it, very nice. Production has been re-started.

Aaaah!...FB Radom Vis 35.

My very first Restricted HG, 1969.

Memories...gravel pits north of Brampton...Officer and Senior NCO shoots at Langemarck Range on a Sunday after annual qualification, every one brought their own shooter...buying 9mm ammo from the little Jewish guy at OACA Sunday meets @ ~$.025 a round...no ownership hassles... banging off a few at the old Long Branch/CAL range...sigh.

about the girps. i replaced the originals on mine and the only way to tell is when you tap on the new installed grip it makes a different sound then the originals. almost like checking for bondo on a car.
also if its original it should have a little bit of wear on it. i'll put a pic up later so you can see two together.

heres a pic. the one on the gun is real the one not on a the gun is repo. look at the diff in color and wear.

That pic is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you JTF#.

These are cool guns. It's really growing on me since I picked it up.

Cheers,
-Steve

Steve,

As far as a holster is concerned, try and find one with flap markings.
It may take a little longer but I think it is worth it.

eBay or Scott Benedict at Pre98.
Scott has the best holsters on eBay, but if you let him know that you are looking for one he will get back to you if he has one.
Check his web site.

David

The pistol was purchased from Jose Reis on November 17 2003...the holster on November 26 2003

Sn. N 5075-Grade 2 German Vis in the second alphabet series-manufactured 1st or 2nd quarter of 1942.
