I give up.

I recently upped the anti on my AR by adding a free float rail system. It's a pretty neat feature and I'm altogether happy with the mod.

I also purchased some coyote brown rail covers to dress her up, and after half an hour of cursing and sweating, pushing and pulling, hammering and bending, I've been able to succesfuly install one of the 4 covers.

What the heck am I doing wrong? Is there some secret to this or do I just have a really stiff set of covers?

Sounds like you have a problem with basic motor skills.

What kind of rail covers? I have the Tango Down covers and they go on easy. Hook one side on, pull the other side over and hook it on. I don't know how else to explain it?

It's niether rocket science nor brain surgery.

What brand of rail?

What brand of covers?

Perhaps the rail is not in spec, or the covers are not in spec, or both. :D

My knights covers go on the knights rails really easily. The tango down covers also slide on the knights rail without effort.

+1, most likely the rails are out of spec.

Take some measurements of the covers and the rail, obviously those covers are to tight, you might be able to remove a little material where its tightest from the covers so they fit on.

I'll be home Friday and I'll measure up the rails. Does anyone have the correct measurement specs for 1913 rails? I'm not sure what brand the covers are - I got them from Dave's Surplus in New Westminster (mail order). They are fairly hard plastic - not very flexible.

FWIW - if you have concerns with the rail spec. go with the MAGPUL panels - they snap on and are not extremly dimensionally crticial - unlike the molded slide on panels.
