I have a Colt AR. It has a fixed FSB and I would like to keep it that way.

What rail do you guys recommend? I see alot of people like the KAC RAS, but it's around $450CAD if you can find them.

I believe surefire and DD also made non free float ones that fit on the delta rings. Probably discontinued.

There's so many options, if you want a drop I unit;
KAC RIS/RAS
DD Omega 7.0
Surefire M73
Troy Battlerail

If you're up to removing the handguard ring and want to extend the handguard;
KAC MRE
DD RIS II FSP (I have specifically this right now)
DD Omega-X 12.0 FSP
VTAC/Troy Delta Rail

Amongst the slew of other options, most of which are Chinese garbage.

This is what you want, OP. I have one I could sell you, if you'd like, but it's black

how hard is it to replace the barrel nut, for someone who has never done it??

Its really easy.

1- Remove plastic clam shell handguard
2- Remove gas block A2 sight assembly by driving out the taper pins. Just make sure you tap them out the right way as they are tappered
3- Get proper barrel nut wrench and remove barrel nut by simply unthreading it with the wrench
4- Pull barrel off & remove old barrel nut/ delta ring assembly
5- Slide on the new barrel nut & re install A2 front assembly
6- Attach new handguard per manufacturers direction

You can also remove the gas tube and then take the barrel nut off and then remove the A2 front sight assembly with the barrel removed. Either way works

Its not hard at all. Just make sure to get a quality wrench and vice block/ Bev block/ reaction rod.
