I'm tossing around the idea of putting a long rail on my norinco...

I'd like it to look something like this:

What kind of rail would I be looking at? Where would I buy it? How much?

Would I need to remove my frontsight and replace the gas block? I've hear about people chopping the sight off their original gasblock, but don't know if that'd be low enough? Plus, I think i'd like to go adjustable anyway...

Look at a 14" rail. One Shot will get Daniel Defense. You can also try a 13" Troy TRX standard or TRX 13.8" Extreme (pm cqbservices).
You need to remove the front sight. You can get a low profile gas block or just modify the original. It usually does work great but it depends on the rail. I know Troy rails can be done.

To install such a rail you need to remove the delta ring assembly and the front sight.

Good luck.

the samson free float handguard uses the exisisting barrel nut, they're under 200$ and look better than most other free float, plus they have dual anti rotation tabs. You can add as much rail you want or keep it round. They're supplied with a few rails sections. I am struggling to find cons to their product, but since I am writing this in the B&G subforum, I am sure flaming will follow.

Sampson is pure sh*t.

My friends, cousins, barber read an article in on line Airsoft forum that no long exists (because of FBI shut them down so take my word for it) that their were better options.

If it is not the absolute very best, most expensive used by Delta/JTF2/SAS to kill terrorists in the "sandbox" with head shots from a moving Humvee at 800 yards it is absolute crap and should not even be considered.

Your #### will fall off and quite rightly so because your genes should be removed from the evolutionary pool for even mentioning it.

Do you feel sufficiently flamed now :D

And now back to our regularly scheduled discussion. ;)

On a more serious note, has anybody had experience with ATI FF handguards. Similar in concept to Sampson in that you bolt on the rails you want. I assume the quality is less than Sampson though.

IIRC Epps had the basic handguard and barrel nut (no rails) for sale at $123.00 for carbine length. I could be off on that though.

I've never heard of anybody using them but I was always curious to see if they were decent (I don't care if real soldiers use them, I ain't a soldier)
