Rail install

Hey guys,what type of loctite do you use to install your rail. Tikka t3 action. Thanks

A small dab of blue loctite is all you need.

Don't use red, I am only joking. My smith used a black type, but I think he did that more for bedding the rail than securing the screws.

Blue or purple will fill all voids and prevent water infiltration and corosion. They are not adhésive and easy to take appart.

Red is lighly adesive and may require heat to take off.

I dont understand why you need loctite with a 6-48 screw I have never used any and never had one come loose when tightened properly .The only problem I have ever seen with a 6-48 screw is having to remove it after someone put loctite on it then stripped the head.

My understanding on base screws is the extra fine thread prevents it from become loose , I say dont use any at all.

Use a small dab of the gel type blue let it dry first. If you use to much and assemble while wet or the regular runny stuff you risk having it squeezing out under the rail causing stress.
