Hey Folks,
While I'm not a very active gun owner, I have owned a very standard .22 for a while and I'd like to put some plans together to make a new one myself. I'd like the new one to be used for target practice at distances of 100-300 meters, and semi-auto (last one was bolt action).
I'm currently looking at 16.5 barrels from Dlask (I tend to like their style), but I'd love some direction in terms of receiver, rail, scope, etc, from more experienced people here.
Thanks in advance.

I am assuming you are looking at a 10/22.

I have had good results with my Tactical Innovations receiver & their matched bolt. Kidd 18" SS barrel & Kidd two stage trigger. This is in an Archangel target stock. Scope is a Weaver V24 in Burris rings with offset inserts +20 in the rear & -20 in the front.

Here's a pic of the rifle.

The Ruger 1022 is the AR15 of the .22 world. More upgrade parts are available for this than any other semi-auto .22 rifle. Go online to explore what's available. As for a scope, get a good quality centre fire target scope with plenty of elevation adjustment. Don't skimp on a scope if you're serious about target shooting. Rob B has a nice setup but I would pick a variable power scope. This allows you to shoot from about 25y and up. A 24X scope is a bit much at short ranges. A good .22 forum to get info is: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/

The V24 is a variable scope, 6 - 24 power. I believe you are confusing the V 24 with the T24.[/QUOTE]

Ooops, sorry about that. I did confuse it with the T24.

If you plan on shooting to 300 meters with a 22 you better get a 20 MOA rail for your scope and a scope with a 30mm tube with target turrets. I shoot at 200 yards regularly with my Savage BTVS in 22lr. I use a Falcon 5.5-25 in MRAD (turrets and reticle) on mine with a 20MOA EGW rail. The whole set-up was around $1K and I can regularly hit a 4" clay at 200 yards with 1-5 shots depending on wind conditions with winchester white box ammo. Great fun.
