I've finally sourced an HS stock for my new 700 SPS Varmint in 7mm-08...I have a Leupold Mark 4 LRT 4.5-14 x 40 with 30mm tube that I had on a Sendero....
what rail and rings do you tactical guys recommend for such a setup?

I have absolutely fallen in love with the work of NEAR Manufacturing here in alberta. His picatinny rails are like nothing else I've ever seen. I just put one on a 22-250 of mine with a 25 MOA taper to it. As for rings, I have no experience with his, I run nightforce on my tactical rig, but if you want super tough and solid I suggest badger ordinance. My brother in law slipped while hunting last fall, his rifle went 5 feet in the air and landed on the scope on ice! Never even changed his zero, speaks wonders for those rings and the mark 4.

Farrell or TPS (or both)

I run Farrell Base and TPS Rings (Best bang for the buck combo IMO)

Farrell rings are a bit on the pricey side but the rail can be had for $80US from Sinclair (just make sure to order a few other items to justify the shipping cost)
TPS Rings can be had for under $100 delivered from the manufacturer in Oregon.

absolutely agree that NEAR Manufacturing here in alberta would be one of the best choice, how ever there is other like Ken Ferrell base, which I had order in the pass, Hard Line Extended G-Force Remington Short Mount 20 MOA extra long, very nice and solid.

forgot about Nightforce, I got 2 piece base on my LTR260, also got a 40moa SA rem700, they great, look very nice also.

Just found a set of NightForce Ring and 40Moa Base, Not sure what to do with it, I am sure Rembo man would very Appreciated!.
