Looking at adding some elevation to my scope by picking up a rail.
Would a 15MOA be sufficient or should I go high?

I currently have Vortex Pro low rings and about 12-13mils of travel left in my scope after zeroing at 50 yards.
Mostly shooting under 100 but would like to get into the longer CRPS matches (up to 300).

Fine with using hold overs (which I could do now) but if 15MOA will do the trick to get me there then that would be nice.

Don’t know if 25moa would cause issues zeroring at 50 yards or under.

Wow unit confusion MOA rail, Mil scope, maybe I should have said my ranges in lengths of a folding table!

The Vortex Diamondback has 85MOA of vertical adjustments. I would say, that's more than enough travel to get a zero with a 25 MOA rail. You'd have about 15MOA of adjustment left to zero at 100y. To go from 100y to 50y zero, you have to adjust down about 8 MOA with standard velocity .22LR. To go down to 25y, you don't have to re-zero normally from 50y, e.g. 25y and 50y have the same POI.

Shooter calculator shows to go from a 50 yards zero to 300 yards you will need 13mils of correction (sk ammo 1070 fps). To go to 400 you will need 20 mils.

I went with 25 MOA rails and have enough

I would go minimum 30MOA or possible 50MOA rail. I personally rather have it and not need then to need it and not have it.

My CCI SV, Strike Eagle 5-25, 419 30MOA rail and Burris XTR rings with the 10MOA insert in the rear set up. With a 50 yard zero I have 96 MOA UP plus the reticle 36MOA holdover I can theoretically, according to Strelok Pro, reach out to 540 yard. However, I shoot out to only 300 yards regularly.

Go a little less then 1/2 the total adjustment of the scope if you want to max it out. With that scope I would go 30MOA rail and some adjustable rings to find the sweet spot, then you can use the bottom of the travel as your 'zero stop';

I'm zero'ed at 50m and its about 16.5MIL to dial at 20C to get to 300m with Lapua Center-X out of a 16" barrel. But my dope is a lot slower than what the package says.

Similar, But I shoot in MILS, I have a 40MOA EGW with a Strike Eagle on top, I would go 50MOA or more if I could do it again. But the Strike Eagle has 31MIL/110MOA in it.
