Railed NCSTAR gas Tube FAIL !!!

Anyone else buy one of these sweet looking SKS NCSTAR gas tubes with the rails ? This would be the newer not the older one ? I bought one back i guess when they first came out from Flaherty's. The other day, i finally got it out to the range, put 1 round through and no cycle. The piston for my russian sks is slightly smaller than the diameter of the tube. Great if i want a cool looking bolt action :-( .... curious to hear if anyone has got one and it actually works. I know i know i know, NCSTAR isn't the best name in accessories. I'd throw this stupid thing back at them if i could, what a P.O.S. ! 50$ wasted, I VOW TO NOT BUY ANY MORE NCSTAR !!! You should too :p

Sorry the product isn't new, there's 1000's of threads, topics, etc that could have searched and found out yourself.
 
Ha ha Ncstar newb. Sorry I had to do it. I heard their stuff is crap. Where is it made? Does it start with a "C" and end in a "A"? And I am not talking about Canada they built the Ross for poop sakes.
 
The only thing I would put a NC Star product on is a rimfire, and I have, and they (optics) have worked out well but I still don't have high expectations from them.
 
I have a Ncstar short muzzle brake on my SKS, its been working great for the last 3 years! I also have one of their SKS bayo lug bipods.... good quality for the price... but mounting a bipod to the barrel of an SKS is such a dumb concept, gun hits about 6" higher @100 yards when the bipod is used LOL its now a paper weight.

NcStar started out as an AIRSOFT accessory company I believe, so what can you expect.

So you think mounting a bipod to an sks is dumb, but you run a muzzle brake on one? Id have to grow more arms to face palm enough.

umm yes ? ... the muzzle brake reduces the barrels jump completely, putting a brake on an SKS is justified no different than putting a brake on a VZ, or an AK 47 for that matter.

Yeah yeah, i know they are crap, i've only been into this less than a year and learned fairly quickly. My original question was if anyone has one of these new tubes and it actually cycles.... I can file and fit and do that stuff myself . I am handy enough...i just wanna know if it works for anyone that has one, mine didn't . I know i know, junk....
 
It should be an easy fix. Find a spring
that's slightly smaller than the diameter
of the piston, cut off one coil and put it
in the top grove of the piston. The coil
diameter should be just slightly smaller
than the gas tube. Like compression rings
on a piston in a engine.
 
Yah I bought a sks from a guy cheap once because he said it stopped
Working. Just turned out to be that ncstar gas tube. Easy fix. New gas tube. I buy some things ncstar. Not all tho.
 
I have the original back on it. i have mine in an ati stock and wanted a black gas tube to match the stock, the other comment about the spring could be a good idea...
