Raised combs

an adjustable comb means simply that you can raise or to some degree lower the comb(that is the narroe top portion of the stock) so that your cheek rests is a good spot and you shoot where you look, rather than having to bend your neck as much. If you are just getting in you should try as many guns as you can before you purchase because the one that fits you the best is going to be the one you break the most birds with.

If you can get one, a four way adjustable comb will offer additional adjustments. Gun fit being as important as it is, an adjustable comb, and an adjustable recoil pad, can get that gun shooting right were you need it. In my opinion they are worth the investment. If you buy a gun that dosen't have these features, an experienced gunsmith should be able to modify, and install them for you.

Often you can find a gun right off the rack that fits and shoots good, but as we are all built different bodywise, often some slight adjustment is needed to get the best out of the gun.

I started shooting trap with a straight field stock. I purchased a Condor Competition last year. It made an immediate difference in my score. I would recommend an adjustable comb to anyone. As far as the Condor goes, it has been a great gun for me. I have put about 1500K through it, with no problems.
