Ramline plastic stocks

There used to be an affordable plastic stock made by a company called Ramline that I recall worked fine on Mausers. I don't see them for sale anymore, just expensive "synthetic stocks."

Are the Ramline plastic stocks still available anywhere? Is Ramline out of business? And if so, is there another relatively cheap plastic stock anyone could recommend for a Mauser 98?

I have used a number of them - used to be able to buy them at local Canadian Tire store - I doubt that I have bought any for 10 years or more - I am quite sure that "Ramline" might be defunct - maybe Butler Creek, or similar, these days? I think they are sold under "Champion" brand name these days - never used one - I do not know if the "Champion" is exactly the same as "Ramline" or not. I used Ramline on Mauser 98, on Zastava 70 (their version of Mauser 98), on Swede Mauser 96 and on Remington 788.

That I recall, there was only one time that I tried to "epoxy" bed one - could not get the stuff to stick to that plastic very well. I put a 1/8" bit into my Dremel tool and made myriad of small divots at various angles - to create mechanical locks for that epoxy to grab onto - that seemed to work.

I do remember Ramline stocks, but only from my early days of getting into guns, something like 8-10 years ago. Now I'm curious to know what happened to them too...

I think Ramline, or Ram-Line, ended up under the ATK umbrella of companies, then under the Vista Outdoor banner, then under Champion Target. Somewhere along the way their products were either re-branded or production ceased. 35-40yrs ago I took a tour thru their then new plant, since plastic was their business they also made products for the fish aquarium market.

So, if Ramline isn't around anymore, what is the current cheap plastic stock for a Mauser and where do you buy them?

In addition to stocks Ram-Line also made mags and even a handgun at one point (The Ram-Line Exactor .22 pistol - I still own one). Some of their mags used an unusual coil spring system which allowed hi-cap mags to hold an extraordinary number of rounds. I had a mag for a Taurus PT-99 that was standard length but held 19 rounds plus one up the pipe. It sure was fun doing a mag dump with that in the days before mags were neutered to 10 rounds.

It seems odd
I don't believe they've made a stock in the last 10 or so years either.

Hogue might be the cheapest, the cheap version is about $150USD.
There must be no market for cheaper Mauser synthetic stocks. Which seems odd to me, given the number of Mausers out there. In my experience, Mausers always worked well in these affordable stocks, with no special bedding required.

You shouldn't have to look far to find a used one. I just recently bought a second hand unit exactly as you described for $60.

Bell and Carlson has stocks for Mausers
Have had them on M98s and Rugers in 338 mag, they are comfortable
Yes, I have used them in the past....but the last time I looked they cost around $500. once taxes and shipping were paid. I was looking for stocks for around or under $100.

I have one I bought most of 40 years ago on a mauser 30-06. It is a very accurate rifle that is comfortable to shoot. I noticed they were no where to be found a few years ago when I wanted one for a swede.
