I'm going to "bump" this post
- I still think it's an intriguing idea.
While rails and such might ruin the "sleek and classical" lines of some dovetail-grooved rimfires, out-and-about there's enough older, cheaper "knock-around" .22's already serving as truck guns that might benefit from this kind of thing.
And just one more thought: an awful lot of high-quality (as well as lower-quality, sadly) paintball and airsoft add-ons already out there can be used for rimfire rifles.....

Alternately, I'm sure you could design some sort of extended weaver/picatinny rail clamp that would extend down beyond the upper rail and clamp onto the dovetail...
I like the idea, but I can't really think of any reason why you'd need it offset, especially for a truck gun.
