Loaded up my 358 Norma Magnum topped with a Bushnell 4200 2.5x10-42mm. with 75gr H4350 and 250 gr Nosler Partitions and tried her out.
Bought her this spring from a fellow nutter and am very happy with her. 2795 fps with 250s :). Heading for elk on Sept 10th. Target is @ 100 Meters, can't wait to try her out on game.
Was hitting tennis ball sized rocks @ 200 meters. :)

That is a great shooting 358 NM. Will put a serious hurt on an elk, for certain.

I will be elk hunting this fall as well....using My 8mm Rem Mag [220 AF @ 3050 fps]

Let's compare notes after the fact, lol. Dave.

Nice shooting! The 35 calibers are impressive. I have a 350 Remington Magnum built on a Remington 798 long action with a 24" barrel and get 2750 fps MV with 250gr bullets and 67 grains of Reloder17 -

Nice rifle and VERY good shooting. Any details on the rifle? The reason I ask is I have a pair of 358 Norma Magnums. I was on the hunt for a 358NM in a Schultz & Larsen, bottom one, when I was offered the one above, a very nice model 1651 Husqvarna. I was 'planning' on selling the Husqvarna when I finally acquired the Schultz  but haven't been able to bring myself to do so yet.

Markings on the barrel are as follows: .358 NORMA, HVA ACTION-MADE IN SWEDEN . According to Baribal its not a Husqvarna Crown Grade but a very nice copy.
" the barrel is of European manufacture and with the separated letters "N - P" it sounds British, but you should see a crown or a cipher arm above the NP.... The maker's initials is probably stamped at the butt of the barrel, seating into the action." - Baribal
Unless I pull the barrel and look I won't know. So I'll never know LOL .

Thanks guy. It's not a calibre you see being used on a regular basis so I was just curious as to what you had. One of mine will 'get the call' for my next Moose trip. Probably the Husqvarna. A couple more photos of it.

As I mentioned previously, I may end up parting with it down the road but I'd like to use it in the field first before I do let it go.

I took your little brother out last week to sight in a new to me and new glasses for ole` pahs
Schultz in 308NM.
Thanks to a feller CGN'r on selling me an older Leupold VarX III in 2.5-8 gold ring.
Pulled the Bausch off and installed this gem and bore sighted it in.
Grabbed the Brno too as it was dew fur sum new perscripshuns.
Nothing easier to sight in than these two fine jewels.
Did the 25 yard target with windage being ne'er spawt'on........on both.
Wander out to the 100 yard (106 with Leica checking) and proceeded to amuse meself.
Target speaks for itself with my rotten hand loads.
The Brno 21H 8x57 target pretty much duplicated this target.
I lost count on the bullet holes, but think there were five or six in there.
Folks showed up and I got a bit side tracked awn me counting.
Regardless, four fur-shure.
The black diamond is 1" thick.

:) Nice shootin' Looky. The 308NM is my favorite 30 cal magnum. Mine is a Schultz & Larsen model 65DL.

And here's the results of a 'recipe' that works well in mine.

So...you always lusted after a Schultz but got a Husky. Then Ted hooked you up with the Schultz you always wanted and, when it comes time to dummy Bullwinkle, you take the Husky?

You are a confusing dude Johnn.

A little error there. What I was saying in post #9 was that I acquired the Husqvarna, while on the hunt for a Schultz & Larsen. I had put in an ad for the 358NM in a S&L and Ted answered saying he had a Husqvarna that might be of interest to me. Initially I said no, but after he sent photos, :redface:I weakened. Down the road I eventually did luck onto a Schultz but as 'pretty' as the Husqvarna is, I haven't been able to part with it, yet.

Isn't the "HVA ACTION - MADE IN SWEDEN" on the left side of the receiver, not the barrel??? Never seen that on a barrel, only on some rifles and "bare actions" either from OEM's (ex. High Standard - i.e. J.C. Higgins) or from importers (Tradewinds, Ruko). What I did tell you, is that it didn't start it's life as a 1651 - not as a "Crown Grade"
It's more a "put together" or a "modified" rifle than a "copy"

Now, whatever it is, it seems to shoot straight.
