I'm new to the whole precision rifle/reloading game, but it definitely has my attention. I've put a number of rounds through this rifle already, but they were all factory offerings. The best performer was Federal Gold Medal Match out of those, but I felt that I could do better.

The rifle was put together for me by ATRS, and is a .308 SPS Tactical barrel/action bedded into a McMillan A5 stock. Timney trigger, ATRS 20 MOA rail, NF rings, and a 5.5-22 x 56 Nightforce scope on top.

I'm fairly happy with the results. The first one is the Federal GMM. The rest are handloads. All 5 round groups at 100 yards

I'm looking forward to playing around more, with different powder/bullet combinations. This super-accurate rifle game is fun.

Nice rifle! I love my SPS tactical. Im dropping mine into an HS stock from a 700P. Cant wait to get it out to the range some more and start doing some reloading!

Hey, what height rings do you have your NF in, and how much clearance is there between the bottom and the barrel? I've got a used NF and an aftermarket #7 heavy barrel on the way and am trying to figure out what rings I need.

Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments on the rifle, guys. I love it, and love to shoot it even more. The SPS rifles sure seem to shoot well.

The rings are NF 1.00 rings. If you're asking about sight height, it's about 1.5 inches. If you're asking about actual clearance of the front of the scope over the barrel, it's .25 inches.

The Win 760... Yeah. I picked it up to try it with 175 gr bullets. The muzzle velocity likely isn't spectacular, but the rifle definitely seems to like it. I set my COL for around what I was getting from the Federal GMM (2.795). Great results. The other one was Varget. Also great results.

I love my Sps tac. I haven't been able to test too many loads yet but i am getting 1/2 Moa groups with varget and Sierra 155 match. Can wait to be able to try out the bergers I picked

Have you had any work done with yours?

Mine grouped pretty well with the 44gr Varget and 168 gr Hornady bullets as well.

No I haven't done a thing to it yet. I would really like to switch out the trigger

The Timney was pricey, but entirely worth it. It just FEELS right. I'd suggest looking into one of those.

Changing out the stock and having the action bedded might be a good idea, if you're looking to squeeze every last bit out of the rifle.

But it sounds like it's a pretty great shooter already, so why mess with a good thing, if you're happy? :D
