First time i shot this gun much, put 400 rounds through it today, all factory ammo. Im pretty accurate with it, trigger is quite forgiving. I was using Wilson Combat Elite Tactical #500 8 round magazines. I was shooting at a distance of about 20 feet. For a lot of those magazines the slide would not lock back on the last round. I made sure it wasn't my grip hitting the slide release, not really sure what was causing it.

Any ideas? Here are a few pics.

It appears where the brass ejected, it left a brass color on top of the slide, right where it ejects. You can easily notice the brass color there.

Good shooting. My colt doesn't do that on ejection though.

Not sure that a stronger recoil spring would help, tight extracter maybe? I'm not an expert.

How does it eject? Short? Far? Consistent?

Also on my last trip to the range my slide would not lock back on my one Wilson mag either. Not sure what's going on yet but it was intermittent and a recent development.

Try different mags for the slide lock issue. The brass mark is the reason a lot of 1911 slides are relieved right in that area. Different loads may alleave that. - dan

I dont reload, but I was shooting 230g Fiocchi FMJ. I usually shoot American Eagle. When this batch is gone ill try some american eagle. The mags are Wilson Combat mags, i figured they would be the ####, it also happens with the factory 7 round colt mags that the gun came with.

I mentioned the recoil spring, cause after the 400 rounds i shot that day, i can feel that the slide is much easier to rack then it was before, as if the spring lost some of its strength. I dunno, maybe its just broke in now.
