Monday I spent the day on the range with boys from Stoeger, and Thomas Pigeon and the Canada in the Rough Crew, it was a great day.
We had a look at many of the new Stoeger products, Benelli, Beretta, Franchi, Stoeger, Burris etc. and then shot them... a lot.
Some of the high lights were the New Extrema 2... what a nice smooth shooting shotgun, and the TRG in .308 no recoil (Big-Ass Muzzle Break) and even after about 50 rounds it was still shooting sub-MOA off a bipod!
I turned some heads when I shot the Pintail sluggun accurately at 200 yards.
Then I embarassed myself completely by loading the SBEII incorrectly on the skeet range (I own two of them), Toomer is never going to let me forget that faux pas!
The Comfortech R-1 in 30-06 was fantastic and it shot nearly as well as the Bolt action Sakos and Tikkas... but with less than half the recoil. Even after dozens of rounds on a hot day it was still shooting consistent MOA, you have to like that Chryo barrel!
I shot many 100's of rounds of clays, skeet (not so good) and trap (I did good)... my shoulder is a tad tenderized!
The new Benelli Nova with the Comfortech stock was amazing on the trap range. I found the Franchi semi a little light and it hammered my cheek hard but I hit well with it.
I really liked the Benelli Renaissance O/U and I hit 100% with it, it was the fastest pointing shotgun I used, and it was just a field model.
I had a chance to talk to Thomas Pigeon during lunch and I found him to be a regular guy and a serious proponent of the shooting sports industry and hunting in particular. It sounds like the new season of Canada in the Rough is going to be excellent.
The fellas at Stoeger are top drawer and they certainly carry some of the best products in the industry... and they can take me out shooting anytime:)

I to was there what a great day and I agree the guys at Stoeger are top notch fellas. It was great to try all of the differant rifles and slug guns and to shoot some trap and skeet. I hope that this will become an annual event.
Best regards

We all need Extrema 2's (make mine a 28" Max 4HD w/ KO, please ! )
or SBE II's if you'd rather.

Didn't hear anything 'bout a varmint hunt, but did quiz TP ( known him for about the last dozen years) about an upcoming Polar Bear Hunt with the new Sako 85 in 338 Federal, a PEI Spud Patch - Sky Carp Shoot, a Timberdoodle shoot in NS, and a Brooks, AB, Ditch Parrot shoot, AB archery/decoy Goat hunt - and a few other choice outings that are coming up. ( Some guys got it tougher than others, eh ? )

It was a dealers only event... sorry fellas... there are some perks if you work in the industry. Beretta Boy and Hunt 365 got to witness my foible on the Skeet range... that damn #9 station completely defeated me!
I am also ordering an Extrema 2 KO with a Slug Barrel in Hardwoods HD... might as well have another sluggun!
I look forward to meeting you guys at the next event!:)
