Greetings,

Does anyone know a formula to use for range estimating using the Burris Heavy Plex reticle? I cannot find anything on the web. I know, I know that a mil-dot or a ballistic plex is best suited for the job. But, I am very limited if my scope is the IER scout at 2.75X. What the hell do you want to estimate using a IER 2.75X scope? You can't see a thing with that mother at long ranges anyways!! Well, I just want the knowledge and practice to do so just in case.

Thanks Ya'll

I can't come up with a quick way to use the balistic plex for ranging(deer) let alone a plex, so I can't help you there. But even a range finder will help you practice ranging with your own eyes. Allot of times here I just estemate based on section/quarter lines ect. Past 300yards its not easy to range with eyesight though i find.

Great thing with the lower power scopes is the bullets usualy land right under the crosshairs, so if the crosshairs don't obscure the target it will hit it. I suppose this could be used as a range finder, if the crosshairs are 1.5" at 100yards, than it would look like 3" on a 200yard target.

But out to 270yards you shouldn't realy need to calculate drop ect that much with most .308 and whatnot calibers.
