Hey All,

First post here, but I've been lurking for sometime now.

Recently I've been doing some research on the local gun clubs, but I'm getting confused as to what the difference is between range fees and membership fees? For example, a local club has rates posted as $85 for a membership fee, and then $20 for range fees. I assume (based on my research) that I need to pay $20 per use of the range. That seems a little out of line with posts I've read here, that state range fees are around $1 -$5.

I guess I have three questions - what are range fees, do I have to pay every time, and what is an avg. range fee?

Thanks in advance for your response

I'd think you would have to ask the range in question where I'm joining it's a one time fee of around $170 for the year. Could be a range fee is if your not a member but I wouldn't pay a membership fee then $20 every time I went out that's a little expensive. However the $20 to shoot if your just there for a single day I would pay that.

Lots of gun clubs are run by conservation organizations. Often the membership is comprised of hunters, anglers and people who are just members for local conservation issues. Not everyone is a shooter.

So the membership is to join the club, the range fee is for use of the range as a member (usually a one time per year fee)

There may also be deposits or key charges etc.

Best to ask them directly.
