Range finder recommendation

You using it for target shooting or hunting? How far do you want to be able to reliably range your target?

I picked up a leica 1200 crf for a steal on eBay last year, and found the glass was so much better than that found on the bushnells and leupold I had, that I leave my binoculars at home and just carry them. If you are serious, buy once cry once. I find they range consistently and better than all the cheap brands (that can cost within $100 of a lieca). Plus the red led display, you can range items throughout the lense even when it's to dark to see them un aided. The leica will range bare ground next to ground hogs out past 300-400. The other brands I tried would only range large items out that far. Plus, the way range finders are rated is deceiving. Expect to only range deer sized objects 50-75% (if you're lucky) of the promised "range". I have ranged deer past 800 with the leica (rested on a post) and trees and fence rows past 1300, and it's only the 1200 yard model.

I have a Zeiss victory 8x26 works great. No need to carry binoculars when you have this one.

I've had 3 Leica rangefinders, 2 different Leica Geovids, the Swarovski laser guide and the G7.Used a bunch more. The G7 is so far ahead of the rest that it isn't even funny. Its a couple grand, but the others added up to considerably more than that.

X2 on the G7 , I own one its simply an amazing piece of kit. If your on a tighter budget than that the new Leica 1600B is a great unit
