Range Finders

Hey Guys I was recently hunting yotes with a buddy of mine and he ended up taking one down at 368 yards. I gave most of the credit to his range finder and then with some simple adjustment for windage he landed the kill shot! Im now very intrested in purchasing a range finder but need some info on brand names and what ill need to spend for quality ?

All input is welcome. :D
 
What is the maximum ranging ability you'd like on say deer-sized game...that will determine a lot on what you need to spend. Count on most rangefinders being effective to about 50% or less of their advertised maximum range.
 
I have a Leica 1600 and highly recommend it. The optics are great and the ranging capability's are very very good as well. IT beats the crap out of the Bushnells I have had and my friends Leupold. IT's good #### if you actually want to range "way out there"
 
Leica 1600B, ranged elk out to 1997yards, gophers out as far as I could see them
The Swarowski is as accurate but slower to range and not comfortable for left eye dominent people
The leupolds I find the usable range is half of adveertised, optics not as clear as needed and the readout is too bright cuasing it to distract the eye for the next range reading
I won't buy any new Bushnel product due to there service
Just my opinion!

That severely limits your choices...Swarovski and Zeiss will do it in both their stand alone and bino combo units, G7 will in a stand alone unit and the Leica bino/rangefinder will as well.
