These last 2 weeks have been painful after putting my 10/22 back together with my new Dlask 16" heavy barrel and Boyd's Tacticool stock. I couldn't make it the range. I had to be content with making bang noises and pretending to shoot.
Well today I managed to go. The scope is a 3-9x Bushnell rimfire scope on the factory Ruger scope mount. The bipod is a Harris BRM (6-9"). This still allows the use of Butler Creek 25 round mags at the bipod's lowest setting. A black sock filled with air soft pellets was used as a rear bag (if there is interest in these high tech bags I would be willing to make more and sell them at $40 a bag...
).
I was shooting American Eagle High Velocity 40 grain.
I am very meticulous when it comes to breaking in a barrel. I loaded up a number of my Butler Creek mags and started shooting!!! The barrel was very slow to heat up.
All groups were shot at 25 yards benched from bipod and hi tech rear bag. I did not take photos of all my targets. I shot about 200 rounds today.
The upper left target is a 5 round group to confirm the scope was shooting to the right.
The bottom left is a 25 round group 0.722" 25 rounds center-to-center.
The remaining 4 are 10 round groups on this page. My best 10 round group of the day was .511". My worst group was .669".
Overall I am very impressed. I can shoot inexpensive ammo reasonably well. I would like to bed the last couple inches of the barrel, bed the receiver, and the stock trigger could use some work. I am not expecting Anshutz like precision however.
Next time I'm going to try shooting at 50 and 100 yards and try some different brands.
