Not sure if this really belongs in the precision rifle forum, since it's one of those nasty old restricted rifles and well, lets face it- Semi auto black rifles are not really known for their accuracy.
I bought the gun from a fellow CGN'r (thanks again!) and set about acquiring some other items like a Bushnell Tactical Elite 5-15x40 scope and one piece Burris P.E.P.R. mount. I'm not a huge fan of recoil, so I mounted a Griffin Armament TacComp on the loud end. It came with a full set of indexing shims and was a snap to install. For added security, I like to use a dab of blue locktite on the 5/8x24 threads. It keeps things where you want them.
Compared to last winter, this one has turned into a really pussycat (Sucks because I'm a snowmobiler), so in order to maintain some modicum of sanity, I figured it would be a good day to punch holes in paper.
It was a bit windy (notice the mud all over the target from the makeshift stand blowing over) today and the temperature was a comfortable +2 C.
The first magazine got me roughly onto the bulls-eye, since I had laser bore-sighted the scope prior to today. A couple more mags and it was shooting quite well. I figured that the 147 gr. Winchester white box (craptastic) ammo was just junk, so I was not really expecting much. WOW! did it ever surprise me! just under 1" @ 100yds. And it was a 5 shot group. I had some 168 gr. hand-loads with me that I use for long range precision shooting and a mag of those printed well under an inch as well.
I read some reports about the poor quality and bad accuracy of Bushmaster .308's, but I'm happy to say that in this case those reports can easily be defended, at least in the case of this rifle.
The reliability of this rifle has been great! It disassembles ammunition when the trigger is pulled and spits out the bones in a nice little pile a couple feet away to the right and slightly forward of the ejection port. Hell, even the brass groups are decent!
Thanks for viewing and if this post can help any of you in any way, then I'm happy to help.
CHeerz!

The test rifle: A Bushmaster .308 MOE FDE (as tested)
The Bushy from the other side...
Griffin Armament Tac-Comp. Will accept a suppressor, but here in Canada that is a moot point.
The see through bits: Bushnell Tactical Elite 5-15x40 on a Burris P.E.P.R. mount
